FAQ Mountains

Will I lose control in Hypnosis?

No. No one loses control under hypnosis.  You are always in control and you cannot do anything in hypnosis you do not want to do or would not normally do outside of hypnotic trance. You are gently guided by your hypnotherapist into a deep, comfortable level of relaxation and given beneficial suggestions that move you toward your goal.

Is Hypnosis safe?

Yes. Hypnosis is a natural, effective, and safe modality. You cannot get stuck in hypnosis (as some people fear), and it is such a pleasant experience, many clients are disappointed when the session ends.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Anyone with the ability to concentrate and of average intelligence can be hypnotized by a certified hypnotherapist providing they want to be hypnotized.  Remember, we all go into hypnosis many times daily!

Is Hypnotherapy useful for children?

Children respond exceptionally well to hypnotherapy. Some common uses are academic and athletic improvement, bedwetting (Enuresis), test anxiety and increased self-esteem, fears and phobias, and allergies.

Will I do things against my will?

No. Hypnosis is a state of consent and cooperation.  The client is always aware of what is going on in their surroundings.  In hypnosis, you could not be made to do anything that you would not normally do when not in hypnosis.

Will I be asleep?

Hypnosis is not sleep.  The client is aware of everything around them and in fact may experience a heightened sense of awareness.

Do you have any specialty areas?

Clinical Therapeutic Hypnosis is my specialty.  I have invested considerable time and resources learning a multitude of techniques and in gaining a thorough understanding of the application of hypnosis to many of the issues clients face.  Additionally, my considerable life and professional experiences as well as my natural affinity toward hypnotherapy bodes well in giving me the understanding, compassion and desire to help clients achieve the best results possible.

That said, here are a few of the more common issues that I address in my practice:

  • Anxiety and Depression Relief
  • Self-Esteem and Confidence
  • Insomnia
  • Fears and phobias
  • Pain Management
  • Habit Control
  • Sports Performance
  • Relationships
  • Job Performance

How long is a Hypnotherapy session?

The average initial Hypnotherapy session is about 90-120 minutes in length, with subsequent sessions lasting about 60-90 minutes each.  During the first session, a client history and intake is completed, and obviously the reasons for the visit, objectives and goals of hypnotherapy, and familiarization with the process are discussed.
